AT RISK GIRLS REDEFINED

Serving Middle Schools Girls in Baltimore City

About AT RISK Girls

Formally incorporated as a 501(3)(c) organization in April 2024, ATRISK Girls, Inc was established to redefine what “at-risk” means for Middle School girls in Baltimore City. Prior to the Spring, founder and executive director, Tanasha Dalton, supported Westport Academy in West Baltimore, by providing a co-curricular program for middle school aged girls throughout the 2023-2024 academic year. By interacting with school personnel, building relationships with the girls, and learning about the community, Ms. Dalton recognized the need for consistent, positive enrichment in the lives of the girls who were exposed to, and experiencing, trauma at a very young age.

She proposed to be part of the solution of positive change by redefining the term that is used as a stigma and a label. The mission of ATRISK Girls is to educate, empower, and equip at-risk middle school girls to be bold, courageous, leaders of tomorrow by providing cultural experiences inside and outside the classroom. The acronym has been redefined to mean:

  A- Ambitious | T- Talented | R- Resilient | I- Inspiring | S- Supportive | K- Kind
